I am Tangie Evans.

Professionally, I started out as a self-taught graphics designer. My early experience included designing my and my husband's corporate identities. I was very much aware that it was my job to create the logos, marketing materials, letterheads, fax covers, websites, and anything else that identified who we were to perspective clients.

I realized that after all of the designing was completed, I grew bored with the business, and I wanted to start another business. I figured out that the most exciting part of starting a business, was the beginning stages; the design process.

I soon enrolled in The Art Institute's Bachelor's Degree program. I have found a never ending passion for design. As a graphic design student I have learned to convert a company's verbal message into a visual message, one that their target audience can understand.

My formal training is in graphic design, but I am also a self-taught seamstress, crocheter, and quilter. As a designer, these forms of creative expression go hand-in-hand. I began sewing and crocheting with the birth of my first child. I needed a way to pass the time and also a way to make extra money. So, I began making clothing and baby blankets and selling them to friends and family. I soon realized that this could be a full-time career. I read, researched, and studied, whatever I could get my hands on pertaining to crocheting and sewing. I now have my own handmade clothing shop at www.tangieevans.etsy.com.

If you are starting a new business, large or small, you will eventually need to identify yourself to your customers and the rest of the world. This is simply done by creating a logo and added this logo to every piece of material you use to communicate with everyone.
